Silent Hill: The Movie

Alright...so I saw this movie recently. A couple of days before I saw Marebito. It is honestly a really good movie. Most films I've seen that have been based on video games have usually sucked the big one but this is one of the few exceptions.

I'm not going to go into detail about the story or exceptional scenes in the movie. All I can tell you is that it takes elements from Silent Hill 1, 2 & 3. If you haven't seen it yet, go watch it.

A word for the wise: watch out for the scene where they're running to the church. You're sure to love it if you're like me!

Marebito: WTF?

I recently saw this J-horror movie titled Marebito. I rented it from Blockbuster amongst other movies (The Howling, Sin City, Silent Hill, and Prince of Darkness), all of which were much better and made more sense. Maybe it was because it had English subtitles and it was hard for me to follow. Maybe it was because I was dicking around with my friends while we were watching it and weren't really paying attention...I don't know. But the movie itself just didn't make sense to me.

I'm not going to reveal anything major that most other synopsi reveal. I don't know where the connection was made in the writing process that it was ok for the main character to record a grisly suicide is the subway and then have him venture into the underground and find some pale, half-naked tart chained to a rock.

The story is supposed to deal with the macabre facisnation of the fear that an individual feels right before death, but I don't know how all of it is supposed to fit in with the naked vampire Jap...whoops, said too much.

Anyways, it's not like it'll ruin it for you. Go rent it for yourself and you'll see what I mean. The title is Marebito; that's M-A-R-E-B-I-T-O. Good luck.

Things I'd like to share

So I don't post anything vocal in this blog. It's primarily a music blog but here's stuff I'd like to share:

First off, go check out BuryYourHeadInTheSand. It's this progressive metal group I'm part of. There isn't much up there because we haven't had a chance to record yet so please be patient. There's a MIDI file up there though. Feel free to check it out

Secondly, I'm a follower of a couple of these podcasts on iTunes. If you have an iPod or iTunes and are interested search the following in the iTunes store/podcast area:
  • The Dub Zone
  • The Dub Step Zone
  • PCP2
  • In The Groove: Jazz and Beyond
If you're into reggae/dub and the entire spectrum of jazz or music in general, go check out those podcasts and that band above.

Thanks for your time.
